Alas, as expected, Luke and Brie Are on a First Date will not be premiering at Sundance next year. The first of many rejections to come or a small hurdle on the road to success? We shall see. But a rough cut of a movie with no name actors and a $2,000 budget was gonna have to melt some faces if it was gonna make that festival so we can’t get too down on ourselves.
I would like to point out that two films made by friends of friends did make the cut and I’m excited to know that it will only be a matter of time before I get to check out these anticipated flicks. Congratulations to Paul Schneider whose directorial debut Pretty Bird is in competition and The Duplass Brothers, who see their sophomore effort Baghead pop up in the Spectrum category (whatever that is).
